Key benefits of Solar Energy
Solar energy is a popular choice of renewable energy for housing because it is discreet and requires no change in lifestyle by the occupier. Houses are rarely inappropriate for solar energy, so long as the location is not shaded by other buildings or trees. There are two types of Solar energy; solar water heating (thermal) and solar photovoltaic (PV).
Solar Thermal
Solar thermal is the more simple and cost-effective technology because hot water is used throughout the year, while the energy required for PV peaks when solar energy is at its lowest. Solar water heating can provide 50-70% of the annual energy required to heat domestic hot water, reducing the overall energy consumption of a well insulated house by around 10-12%.
Solar PV
Solar PV panels convert light into electrical energy. PV requires more roof area, but unlike solar heating, any excess electrical energy can be exported and sold back to the grid, so the only technical limit on energy production is the area available for installation.
The solar panels we supply are manufactured by Viridian. Please click here to download their brochure.
